[...] Zappos.com is an online shoe and apperal shop known for it’s quirky attitude and fun style. Consistantly ranked as one of the best companies to work for, Zappos puts a large emphasis on the company’s culture and values in all it does. Recently, this has spilled over onto Zappos’ presence on social media, specifically Twitter.
Fifty years ago today, I marched as a majorette in the 1962 Tournament of Roses Parade with my High School Band from Fitchburg Ma. It was exhilarating, exciting, emotional and exhausting; producing a blister the size of a nickel on my baby toe, chaffed thighs and muscles not willing to walk the extra mile to preview the parked floats. Oh, to only be in shape today, to march with knees held high all those miles down Colorado Avenue in Pasadena I would except all the blisters in the world. Thank you for the article and reminder of this event.

Rick our families share a connection for decades with this labor of love. Susan is doing some great work. That goal will be reached. What a great anniversary of a special event in Fitchburg's history. Happy New Year to you!

I will never forget that trip. I was only a freshman and was just as happy as I could be to march in front of America on TV. But to win most outstanding high school band was amazing. Thanks Coach.

Yes, I marched as a majorette in the 1962 Tournament of Roses Parade with the Fitchburg High School Band from Ma. It was exhilarating, exciting, emotional and exhausting. It produced a blister the size of a nickel on my baby toe, chaffed thighs and muscles unwilling to walk any further thus missing the preview of all the parked floats. Oh, to only be in shape enough now, to march all those miles down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena with knees coming up high while the band played "California Here I Come", "Hey Look Me Over"and "Something is Coming Up Roses". Just give me that moment again and I will accept all the blisters in the world.

Thanks Sharon. Our Dad's were pretty special guys. It was special to hear their stories of the Tournament of Roses back at the 25th Anniversary. We are left to celebrate without them today. I bet they were looking down laughing and having a good time today.
