Marty Cagan’s “Trend of Global Proportions”
Marty Cagan is a master of product management. Marty put his skills to work running product at Netscape and eBay. We are all fortunate that Marty is now spreading the word about product management with his book Inspired, and his advisory and consulting practice. This labor of love has spread the gospel on how to build great products.
I surely have great respect for the people, work and companies that have been built in Silicon Valley. I also contend that we can do this here in Boston, New York and other places…we are doing it! Key is to focus on building products that customers will love…not just what you think they will love. Great product management is alot of discipline, some art, some science…and a lot of customer involvement!
Cool to see Marty’s recent post on this topic. You can read Marty’s full post here.

Bravo,
Jeff. This can be done in Boston as well as it is in SV with the right thought leadership!

There are still some obstacles to this progression reaching its potential. Some governments make it nearly impossible for startups. Some cultures are very risk averse. Some investors have old biases. But in many parts of the world, the stars have aligned and great product work and innovative startups are emerging. Some of my favorite product innovation hubs outside of Silicon Valley: New York, Boston, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Bangalore, and Beijing, with scattered teams almost everywhere.

Dharesh Shah recently wrote a post about customer involvement. Wouldn’t it be great if you were constantly connected with your audience? Nice post!

Thanks Jason. There is no other way. Customer focus is the key to success. That is why we are in business!
