Social Shopping: The Emotional Side Of Swapping
eCommerce on the Internet has changed the world. The ease of access to goods. Integration of product info, reviews and ratings. With the web now enabling social connections through Facebook, Twitter and other sites, we are at the advent of another wave of growth through Social Commerce (shopping).
Social Commerce is going to unite the best attributes of eCommerce and Social Networks. There is no better recommendation about a product or service than one from a friend or colleague. Social Commerce will enable more targeted demand for goods and services. Will Social Commerce really bring out the emotional side of shopping though? Depends on what you are buying and who you are buying from.
My colleague Carl Schwartz, VP of Marketing at Swaptree, wrote an awesome post today about the “emotional” side of any commerce transaction. This is an important aspect of shopping. We both believe that “Swapping” as a form of Social Commerce has great potential in eliciting the emotional side of shopping.
