DailyGrommet & RatePoint Win MITX Awards For Social Media And Innovation
MITX Awards night in Boston is a great way to showcase our regions best emerging technology companies. I am delighted that two companies that I am involved with could win last night: DailyGrommet won the award for “Innovative Business Strategy” and RatePoint won the award for “Social Media”
DailyGrommet is a very cool social commerce company. Jules Pieri and her team unveil a cool product/service everyday at noon (est) with a video on DailyGrommet. Many of these products are picked by merchandising efforts, though many are “crowd sourced” from a loyal base of customers. DailyGrommet leverages many channels to draw awareness for their daily offering…and have been innovative tapping the social media ecosystem. I discovered and posted early on this blog about DailyGrommet…and have been a fan since. So happy that this newly funded consumer company is off the ground and recognized by MITX! Cograts Jules, Joanne and team!
RatePoint is an equally cool social commerce company. Neal Creighton and team are working to enable small businesses with the tools necessary to grow, engage and maximize their relationships with their customers. RatePoint has integrated a suite of tools that allow a small business to plug right into the social media ecosystem leveraging Twitter and Facebook. Social Commerce is a two way street and RatePoint is delivering solutions that allow small businesses to participate…not become victims of social media. I have collaborated with the RatePoint team as a Board Member for more than two years now. It is great to see RatePoint win in the Social Media category!
Last year Swaptree won two MITX Awards: Social Media and Best Overall Solution. I have since joined Swaptree as CEO. Great to be part of MITX award winners two years in a row!
What a great way to celebrate New England Innovation Month!

Bravo to Daily Grommet! Jules was as affable as ever accepting the award… I thought they had a serious shot at taking home the award for E-Commerce / Alternative Retail, but it’s hard to compete with the disruption Gemvara is causing. Anyway, great post Jeff! Goooooooo Innovation Month!

Jeff, You were too modest in not revealing that you became involved with Daily Grommet when you reached out to me (a total stranger at the time) and said, “Is there any way I can help you and Daily Grommet?” That was SO refreshing and deeply meaningful to me. Thanks!

Ditto, ditto, ditto !! The Daily Grommet speech was definitely one of my favorite moments of the night – heartfelt indeed.

I thought the concept behind DailyGrommet was great. Great concepts need equally great leaders and teams. So happy to see the funding and the award. Well deserved. Happy to have been helpful along the way.
