Congrats Fitchburg Scholars

It is always nice to go  home to take part in a great event at your alma mater.  I got invited to deliver the keynote address at Fitchburg High School’s 28th Annual Scholars Banquet tonight.

What a great evening that featured 41 graduating seniors that had earned a GPA of over 3.9.  For this effort each of the students earned the “Gold F” recognizing their academic excellence.  This is the highest number of students in one graduating class to earn this honor.

It was an honor to join Andre Ravanelle, Superintendent of Schools, Richard Masciarelli, Principal and Colleen Hirons for this event.  It was great to have the opportunity to speak to the scholars and share some of my life experiences.  Nearly two hundred people attended the banquet, including parents, family members and many members of the faculty.  Celebrating academic excellence has always been a tradition at FHS and it is nice to see this carried on.

This years FHS Scholars are:  Rachel Benoit, Marissa Binnall, Amy Boucher, Matthew Burke, Abigail Capone, Kevin Chavez, Caitlin Coleman, Christine Conroy, Kathleen Craigen, Meagan Dame, Hannah David, Haley Dean, Erica Dellogono, Michael Descoteaux, Ashley Forgues, Thomas Gammel, Marta Gianetti, Alexander Hanno, Adam Jacob, Daniel Kazanjian, Amanda Koch, Georgia Konas, Meghan Lanni, Sandy Lor, Nicholas Martinez, Molly Mioduszewski, Nhi Ngo, Nicole Nikander, Kaitlin Ouellette, Ellen Porell, Samantha Posco, Brianna Reyes, Sky Rosado, Matthew Schneider, Kimberly Seguin, Emily Shea, Janet Sierra, Marlena Sullivan, Lauren Sweeney, Catherine Van Amburgh and Samuel Welch.

Congrats to all of these Scholars.  For more information click through to see the nice coverage this event received in the Sentinel & Enterprise in this mornings edition.

Three Cheers for the Red and Gray!

  • Jeff,

As much as you enjoyed being there we enjoyed your encouraging words and sage advice to our scholars. We hope they listened closely.

  • Thanks Rick. I hope that it will have an impact in some small way.

  • Jeff,

Nice to see so many scholars coming out of FHS. Congratulations on having been chosen to address this special group. Also, nice article and mention of your contribution to the event in the Sentinel.

  • Nice job, Jeff!!!!!
Wow! So many Gold F’s – wonderful!

Your words were inspiring and I’ll bet will be remembered. Excellent life lessons – from someone who has lived them!

    Congrats -

  • Thanks Marcia. I too am so pleased about the number of recipients.

  • I enjoyed your speech and believe in networking. I talked to you about Boys & Girls State. We have 18 attending and look to have them excel.

I just received the Wentworth Annual Fund Drive mailing featuring Vinnie Rodriguez and his Peru trip. He has been on your blog and will email you soon.

Thanks again for the timely inspirational talk.
