Top iPad Launch News From Blogosphere @ Geek.com

Yesterday was iPad Launch Day…not an official holiday…but I am not sure that there has ever been as much enthusiasm about a new consumer technology product.  The iPhone launch was big but this was “inside baseball” mostly for the legions of Apple-devoutees.  I remember going to wait in line…late…at the local AT&T store on that hot July Day…it was exciting…there was a lot of buzz in the press for sure.  Yesterdays iPad launch comes years after Apple totally remaking itself with iTunes, iPods, iPhones and now…iPad.

I have become a devout Apple fan but my road to this state has come from iTunes, iPod and iPhone…now Mac.  I have some experience years ago with an early Padlet type of product that was called the Wang Freestyle.  The Freestyle was cool back in the late “80s but the world was not ready for it.  Judging by all of the activity and enthusiasm around iPad, Apple might have just rocked the world again.

Check out this video on YouTube from the Apple Store in New York yesterday:

I have scoured the web for anything and all things iPad since yesterday.  I believe my friends at Geek.com have created the best mashup from across the blogosphere about iPad.

  • Jeff,

Glad to see you have joined the cult. I’ve been a fan since the late ’70s. Are you picking an ipad up?

    Best,

    Bill

  • I would like to get an iPad with 3/4G. Or if I could use my iPhone as a tether for the iPad. It is going to be a great platform for email, web browsing, reading newspapers, books, watching video, et al.

  • Jeff,

Yeah this one is a winner, not only is the timing better, the product is way better – software, applications, and hardware teaming like never before.
I’ve been pondering a thin laptop, the netbooks (Windows freeze pops) just don’t cut it. I really can’t justify a new toy at the moment, BUT perhaps I can justify a useful tool…an ultra portable web research machine, a portable library, an email tool that doesn’t give you thumb lock or eye strain. Although amazingly they have sold over 450,000 IPads in a week or so, there are probably many like me still debating whether to run out and get one now, or wait for the Flash capable one with the web cam. The way I look at it, the purchase can be justified as both a “live a little” toy, and a serious well made communication/informational tool. I guess I’m 80% of the way to the Apple Store. Funny post by Dan Sung in Pocket-Lint on the topic, he prepared a “Should I buy and IPad? quiz. http://m.pocket-lint.com/news/news.phtml/32505

Knowing you are an “Apple fanboy” as Dan scores very highly for, you may already be reading this on your new IPad?

  • Thx for the comment Jay. No iPad here yet but I must say it looks pretty compelling. The stats that Apple released yesterday on sales, apps, ibooks downloaded, etc are amazing.
