Ohio State’s Buckeye Blogger
Mark Titus, a senior at Ohio State, has become more famous for his work as a blogger than his work as a member of it’s basketball team. Mark plays the role as the twelfth man on the Buck
eyes squad and rarely plays. If he does he seldom does not register on the box score of a game for key stats like scoring, rebounds, fouls, etc. When a player register zeroes across the board it is know as a trillion. Mark’s blog is titled Club Trillion, and it chronicles “Life Views From The End Of The Bench.” Almost two millions visitors in the last year. Wow.
Titus has a charming wit and unique view to write blog posts. The original sports blogger, who was the Boston Sports Guy, Bill Simmons now of ESPN, featured Titus on a recent podcast and sent the visits to Club Trillion through the roof. Simmons liked what he saw in Titus blog, commenting that “it’s popular for three reasons…one it is funny…two he’s self-deprecating which makes him likeable…and three he brings us into a world that we don’t have access to otherwise.” I agree with Bill…it is what citizen journalism is all about.
Titus is leveraging this new found fame and popularity to do something good as well, selling Club Trillion T-Shirts to raise money for “A Kid Again” charity, which helps children with life-threatening illnesses to be “a kid again.”
Looking for more humorous and real life posts coming from Club Trillion during the rest of this basketball season and beyond.
