FitnessKeeper Raises Capital To Run Faster

FitnessKeeper, Jason Jacob’s Boston startup that has built the popular GPS-based RunKeeper iPhone application, has raised $400,000 in capital for its first round of seed funding.

images-3I spotted this emerging company earlier this year and posted about how favorable RunKeeper was positioned against Nike+. It was just a few weeks later that I posted again about RunKeeper being selected a Top Ten iPhone App. I really beilieve in what Jason and his team are doing.  Very cool apps filling market needs.

The funding comes from Cambridge, MA-based LaunchCapital and a group of individual investors that includes Don McLagan, the former CEO of Boston-based Compete.com; Dave Balter, the CEO of Boston-based BzzAgent  and Will Herman, founder of Viewlogic.

FitnessKeeper will utilize the capital to get RunKeeper-like applications ready for mobile devices such as Android, Palm, and Blackberry smart phones.  In addition, FitnessKeeper also wants to expand it’s online presence so that users can track other types of fitness activities.

Congrats Jason and team!
