DailyGrommet Launches Cool New Site
DailyGrommet, the cool site that features hard to find products daily has launched a new site. I have posted several times about DailyGrommet in the last year. I believe Jules Pieri and her team are doing some great things with their unique brand of social commerce.
Best to start with a basic question – what is a Grommet? It comes from a designer, or inventor, or artist, or manufacturer who is clearly passionate about what they create. Someone who loves to share their creations and talk to people about why they do what they do. The products that are featured on the DailyGrommet are also not easily found elsewhere. The DailyGrommet team is bringing to life cool products for us through their sourcing, merchandising and use of the web to tell the story…and facilitate the purchase of Grommets.
Since original launch last year the DailyGrommet has featured one product per day. Through the use of video that includes the Grommet team and often the product developers of the Grommets, we have been able to learn the real story behind so many products. In this day of the mass merchandiser this approach has been a breath of fresh air. The use of video and social media tools has allowed a truly authentic positioning of these unique products.
One product per day has allowed the DailyGrommet to build a very unique catalog. The only issue is that the old site featured the product of the day…with only one button to link to all of the other Grommets. This new site provides a more expansive view of video, comments and information about today’s Grommet. The new site also offers several windows into the extensive catalog that DailyGrommet is building through “Recent Grommets” and a taxonomy listing “All Grommets.” Another key feature is the addition of a shopping cart to allow the purchase of more than one Grommet at a time…again moving from a single product approach to opening up access to the catalog for browsing and buying. The Grommet team has always been great about their embrace of social media through obvious links to Twitter and Facebook and this persists with the new site.
Bravo for these updates. The new site should really propel DailyGrommet allowing its many followers easier access to this great catalog of cool products!
