Apartments.com has announced the acquisition of ApartmentHomeLiving.com.  Apartments.com has a large inventory of rental listings and it is a hybrid classifieds/lead gen site that has built it’s business on this killer generic domain name.   ApartmentHomeLiving.com is a social media site that has been growing membership and audience which it attracts through its “live for fun” community.  This social media site includes thousands of local neighborhood guides and videos posted to popular video-sharing sites, and apartment lifestyle matching.

The goal is to continue to grow both sites independently while looking at logical integration for some content, such as, all Apartments.com listings will be integrated into ApartmentHomeLiving.com site.

This appears to be a logical match.  The social media functionality and participatory audience of ApartmentHomeLiving.com will add depth to this combination which seeks market leadership in this category.  With the housing and credit market in turmoil the apartment market will surely be important.
