GlobalPost.Com To Launch January 12

It is great to see an ambitious consumer media venture founded and launched in Boston. GlobalPost.com launches global-post-logoMonday, January 12, covering the news of the world. GlobalPost.com is founded by news veterans Philip Balboni and Charles Sennott. Mr. Balboni is the former founder and CEO of New England Cable News (NECN). Mr. Sennott is a widely acclaimed international journalist who was most recntly at the The Boston Globe.

At launch, GlobalPost.com will span nearly 50 countries, including Brazil, Indonesia and other regions that Sennott believes are undercovered in American media. Reporters also will be concentrated in key emerging markets like China and India. GlobalPost.com is providing its recruits with digital video cameras and some travel expenses, but they will work from home, eliminating office costs. GlobalPost.com’s journalists are expected to produce weekly dispatches on political, business, social and cultural developments and regularly update an online reporter’s notebook with miscellaneous tidbits. They also will offer photos and video when appropriate.

GlobalPost.com, supported by ads, will offer regular dispatches for an American audience to supplement coverage from the Associated Press, Reuters and other news organizations still covering the world.

We are big fans for the effort that has gone into launching GlobalPost.com. As most news organizations are pulling back on reporter coverage GlobalPost.com is looking to tap into high quality journalism that is spread across the globe. Think of this like relaunching General Motors or Ford for today without all of their encumbrances. Congrats and best wishes to the GlobalPost.com team for the courage and this bold move. Lets all bookmark GlobalPost.com and track the progress daily. Additionally, we can follow Charlie Sennott’s Blog Groundtruth.
