Longmeadow Plows Over Fitchburg In Super Bowl
Longmeadow beat Fitchburg in the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 1 Super Bowl on a cold and snowy afternoon by a score of 35-21. Longmeadow earned a narrow 14-13 lead at halftime. The Lancers outscored the Red Raiders 21-8 in the second half.
Longmeadow finishes the season with a 12-1 record and won it’s fourth straight Super Bowl. Logmeadow had a 47-game winning streak snapped last week on Thanksgiving.
Fitchburg finishes up 8-5 on the year. Fitchburg plays one of the toughest schedules in Massachusetts Schoolboy Football. Eight wins with this schedule is a great year. Fitchburg was happy to go to the Super Bowl but it played it’s real bowl game last week against Leominster in the 125th meeting of their storied rivalry. Fitchburg beat Leominster in overtime 20-17.
Great season for both Longmeadow and Fitchburg.
